The African Sports Confederation For Disabled was founded in Algeria in 1987,as a non Profit non governmental organization , its status as a legal entity being formalized in 1990 upon the adoption of its first constitution during the General Assembly held in Cairo-Egypt. 
These constitution were revised during the General Assembly which took place in Cairo - Egypt in April 1997 and revised in 2000 .
lt is recognized by the Supreme Council Of Sports in Africa ( SCSA) in 1992. 
ASCOD activities are based on the principles of the international physical Education of Sports charter, adopted by UNESO, in 1978. 
The organization of Sports activities and competitions for all disabilities is a fundamental part of ASCOD's aims. The plane of action depends on registration in the different Associations & Organizations, which promote & develop the Disabled Sports for all Disabilities (Spinal cord injuries -Polio-Amputees & Les Autres- Cerebral Palsy-Mental Handicap-Blind & visually impaired-Deaf) at all levels.
